William Poiry Obituary

William “Bill” Poiry, 87, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Mercy Health- St. Charles Hospital.  He was born in Seneca, MO on January 17, 1931. Bill was a graduate of Clay High School and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea. Bill was a private pilot and an avid carpenter who gave honor to St. Joseph.

 

He is survived by children, Laura (Jeff) Cooper, Bernadette (Dennis) Murray, Pauline (John) Giedeman, Rebecca (Dale) Dachenhaus, William (Tina) Poiry and Lawrence (Christie) Poiry; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and brother, Nicholas (Marilyn J.) Poiry Jr. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Laura; parents, Nicholas and Francis Poiry Sr.; granddaughter, Michelle Reed; siblings, Mary Kathleen, Robert Allen and Patrick Duane.  

 

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 3-9 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7 pm. The Requiem Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, (Locust Street at Erie Street) in downtown Toledo. Burial will follow at Elliston Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 628 Locust St., Toledo, OH 43604.
