Alicia (Salas) Jimenez

            Alice Jimenez, 72, passed away surrounded by loved ones on April 21, 2016. She was born in Shelby, Ohio on October 9, 1943.

            Alice is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Joe Jimenez; daughters, Sylvia Herrera, Annette (Jose) Bernal and Maria (David) Arriaga; grandchildren, Jessica, Angelo and Gabriel Herrera, Carlos and Julian Bernal and Selena Arriaga and 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sevastian Jr (Amelia), Betty (Joe), George (Liz), Maria (Freddie), Dora (Beto), Linda (Cristobal), Beatriz, Helen and Marty (Irma) and her right-hand man, her great-grand dog, Romeo. Alice was also a mother figure to her nieces, Nellie (Antonio, Sr.) Mata and Vicky (Joey) Ybarra and nephews, Phil Cloyne and Ricky Salas and a grandmother figure to Daniela, Raelene, Antonio, Jr., Maria, Marisela, Jocelyn and Bridgette.

            Alice set the standards high on every role she portrayed in her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, a woman of God but also the matriarch of her entire family. Early on in her marriage, Alice lived in Chicago and helped raise the DeLaCruz, Rea and Lopez families. Alice kept her doors open to anyone and was always there when you needed her. She loved to cook and treasured the times spent making tamales with her sisters. Alice will be extremely missed by her loved ones. Alice was our angel on earth and we are comforted knowing she is with the Lord.

            She was preceded in death by her father Sevastian Salas, Sr. and her mother Trinidad (Hernandez) Salas along with her sister Dorothy Garcia and brothers Diamond, Ruben, Romaldo and Raymond Salas.

            Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, today, Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 5 p.m.  The Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home with the burial to follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
