Leonard Newis

            Leonard Newis, 88, of Perrysburg, OH. passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.  He was born on May 10, 1928 in Waltham, MA. to John and Margaret Newis.  Leonard was a graduate of Waltham High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps., during WWII.  Leonard was employed for 38 years at the Toledo Edison, retiring in 1990.  He was an active member and volunteered at St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Joseph-Toledo, St. Charles Hospital, Little Sisters of the Poor and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.  He will be dearly missed.

            Lenny is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jeanne (Hatfield) Newis; children, Marcia (Ron) Harris, Mary Pat (Ed) Fajkos, Carol (Bill) Hinsch, Terrie (Tom) Rawlins, Sharon (Gary) Egnatz, Philip (Jackie) Newis and John (Melinda) Newis; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 3-8 p.m. where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front Street Perrysburg, OH. 43551.  A private interment will be held at St. Ignatius Cemetery at a later date.  Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Lenny’s memory are asked to consider St. Rose Catholic Church.
