ANDREW T. “TOM” BAYS

Andrew T. Bays, 87, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born in Greenup, KY to Charles and Pearl (Barney) Bays and served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He began his lifelong career on the railroad retiring as a conductor for Conrail. Tom was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the East Toledo Family Center where he played softball for the seniors group. He was a facilitator for several AA groups in the Toledo area and was a gifted musician who could play anything that would make music.

Tom is survived by his children, Debra Druschell, Andrew T. Bays, Jr., Pearl Henry, Jennifer (Jeff) Garner, Jody (Joyce) Bays, Aaron Bays, Brenda Bays and Sharon Bays and stepson, Kent Stambaugh along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessica Bays, children, Ara Saar, Timothy Bays, Linda Bays; stepson, Keith Stambaugh; parents; 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 2-8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
