Rosemary E. Shaffer

Rosemary E. Shaffer, 78, of Northwood, Ohio passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Orchard Villa.  She was born on November 12, 1937 in Toledo to Emery and Irene Pavuk.  Rosemary was given the nickname Cookie by her father because he thought she was sweet as a cookie.  She was a 1954 graduate of Whitney High School.  Rosemary married James Shaffer on September 8, 1956 and together they had seven children.  After being a stay-at-home mom she went back to school at age 40 and became an LPN, working at Riverside Hospital for 15 years.  Rosemary also enjoyed crafts, giving great attention to detail.  She was an avid doll collector and was well known for her Hungarian pastries.  Her family was her number one priority, spending the majority of her retirement with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was the most generous and caring person, loved by all who met her.

            Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, James and daughter, Victoria Miniard.  Surviving are her children:  Cynthia Bloom, Rebecca Pratt, James (Beth) Shaffer, Pamela (Joel) Belanger, Christopher Shaffer and Christine (Mark) Besgrove; siblings, Irene (Ron) Ruggles, Robert (Deborah) Weaver, Charlotte (Don) Murd, Richard (Linda) Weaver, Mary Flores and Susan (Norman) Veres, 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Monday, August 22, 2016 from 2-8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday in the funeral home at 11 a.m.   Entombment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.  Memorial contributions may be made to American Alzheimer’s Association.
